CASE STUDY

CONTEXT:

A core aspect of FMA's People & Culture strategy is a focus on the whole person - enabling their professionals and leaders to thrive in all areas of their life. At the FMA well-being, work-life balance and performance are inextricably linked. Providing associated development opportunities is key to attracting, engaging and retaining their people.

The FMA were keen to take their employee wellness approach to a new level and go beyond the traditional wellness initiatives that often have a short-lived impact.

They wanted a programme that generated measurable and long-lasting improvements with a focus on enabling staff to live and perform at their best in an increasingly complex, demanding and remote working environment.

The programme’s focus on effecting real and sustained positive change, is creating a paradigm shift in how we as an employer invest in the wellness and performance of our people.

SUPPORTING FMA’S AIMS:

The FMA decided to partner up with Transformative Insights and pilot the Firstbeat Transformation Programme. The programme enables professionals and leaders to unleash their capacity for living, leading and performing at their best. Of particular interest to FMA was the programme’s potential to generate sustained benefits, through its research informed design and delivery characterised by:

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Pilot participant Shamilla summed up the overwhelmingly positive feedback:

“I’m so grateful for having had the opportunity to participate in this programme – without seeing my initial assessment report and identifying so clearly how poor my sleep quality was, I would never have done anything about it. As a result, I’ve taken some steps and the improvement of my sleep has been life changing. I highly recommend this programme – the insights into your lifestyle alone will be eye opening. And if you choose to make some changes, I think you’ll see amazing results!”

Based on the success of the pilot, FMA now offers the programme to all employees. The programme runs twice a year with around 60 employees having benefited from participation so far.

KEY RESULTS:

Participants have generated significant, self-reported and data-backed improvements, across stress reduction, enhanced recovery, improved sleep quality and better physical activity. This stronger lifestyle quality foundation enabled them to experience increased mental well-being, vitality & energy, balance, resilience and performance.

Importantly, these gains were not just sustained but further improved when the pilot group participated in a follow-up measurement six months after they completed the programme.

In addition, the opportunity to participate in this FMA funded programme, resulted in a moderate to large increase in perceptions about four key attraction & retention drivers:

  • Supporting good work-life balance

  • Providing attractive health and wellness benefits

  • Encouraging personal development

  • Employer of choice

Your programme and guidance is life-changing, and I am very grateful for the time, effort and energy you have put into helping me embed sustainable changes that are having such a big impact on my day-to-day life.
